16.3% of software engineers in the Netherlands list Vue.js as the framework they want to work with next. This makes it the second most-wanted framework in the country after React. Here, we’ll look at the average salary for Vue.js developers at each stage of their careers and how they compare to those for JavaScript, React, and Node.js developers.

Average junior Vue.js developer salary

Vue.js developers in the Netherlands with two-to-four years of experience earn around €37 321 per year. That’s 9.1% (€3 735) less junior JavaScript developers and 8.2% (€3 352) less than junior React developers.

With four years of experience under the belt, a Vue.js developer can expect the most notable salary increase of their career: 30% (€11 196), to a total of €48 517. Developers in other frameworks also experience similar significant pay bumps early in their careers.

This is because they typically move jobs more frequently at this stage, offering opportunities for fresh salary negotiations that yield greater increases than those earned working year in and year out for the same business.

That also means that JavaScript developers earn 5.1% (€2 583) more than Vue.js developers within this bracket, while React developers earn 10.6% (€6 003) more and Node.js developers 19.4% (€11 686) more.

Average Vue.js Developer Salaries by Experience

Average Salary by Years Experience, showing 25th and 75th percentiles
Years of Experience 25th Percentile Average 75th Percentile
2-4 €30,900 €37,321 €44,375
4-6 €39,747 €48,517 €55,000
6-10 €42,300 €57,286 €67,500
10-15 €48,988 €68,141 €80,750

Vue.js developers with six-to-ten years of experience continue to earn well. Past the six-year mark, they see their salaries increase 18.1% (€8 769) to €57 286. At this level, JavaScript developers earn just 2.2% (€1 285) more, with React developers taking home 8.6% (€5 375) more and those working in Node.js 15.1% (€10 186) more. Senior Vue.js developers with at least a decade’s experience get another significant pay hike of 18.9% (€10 855), bringing their annual compensation to €68 141.

Beyond knowledge of functional programming, experience in service-based environments, and an understanding of responsive design systems, senior Vue.js developers should also have good communication and collaboration skills to work with and manage teams. They may also progress to becoming a tech lead or manager, which carries additional responsibility and is thus compensated accordingly.

Keep in mind

The data in this article is taken from StackOverflow’s 2022 Developer Survey’s open data. In this article, ‘salary’ refers to the gross annual salary (before tax) provided by 200 survey respondents from the Netherlands who identified as Vue.js developers.

We only included salary insights for experience levels with enough data points to ensure that the amounts represent Vue.js developers in the country. That’s why we excluded salaries for developers with fewer than two years and more than fifteen years of experience in this article.

We also ran an outlier analysis to identify data points skewing the distribution of salaries. These points were removed from the final dataset to ensure that the amounts represent Vue.js developers in the Netherlands. We’ve also included the 25th and 75th percentiles to give you further information about the distribution of salary data.

Average salaries are single data points and only one part of a bigger story. Many respondents may earn significantly more or significantly less than these averages. However, we aim to show underlying trends by mapping the average salaries for different experience levels.

These averages should not be used to estimate your actual salary. Salaries depend on the company size, industry, individual perks, and nature of the work. They all influence the salary of a prospective hire. Developers are usually fluent in several languages and work across multiple roles, which will affect the final figures.

It’s also important to remember that every individual’s context is different. Salary is a personal conversation that should take place between employee and employer.
