21% of software engineers in the Netherlands work with Angular on a regular basis. This makes it the country’s third most-used framework. Here, we’ll look at the average salary Angular developers can expect at each stage of their careers and how they compare to the average JavaScript and React developers.

Average junior Angular developer salary

The average junior Angular developer’s salary starts at €39 219 per year for developers with at least two years of experience, 4.5% and 3.6% less than their JavaScript and React counterparts, respectively.

Angular developers in the Netherlands receive the most significant pay increase of their careers once they have four years of experience under their belts:

Mid-level Angular developers with at least four years of experience can expect a 35.9% pay increase giving them an average annual salary of €53 300.

At this stage of their careers, they’re earning 4.3% more than the average JavaScript developer, but still find themselves 1.8% behind React developers with comparable experience.

Why do Angular developers receive the biggest salary increases during this stage of their careers?

Junior and intermediate developers typically change jobs more frequently. This gives them a chance to negotiate a higher market-related salary than the inflationary increases developers can expect if they stay with one company. Companies hiring developers at these career stages are more inclined to offer what might seem a significant increase because the salary range is still not that high.

Average senior Angular developer salary

Salary growth for senior Angular developers begins to slow once they pass the 6-year mark. However, that’s not to say that there’s no growth at all.

A senior Angular developer’s salary increases by 8.8% after they’ve been coding for at least six years. This gives them an average annual salary of €58 000, 1% less than their JavaScript counterparts. However, the gap between them and React developers widens to 7.4%.

Once they pass the ten-year mark, Angular developers see their salaries increase by 20.7%. This puts the average senior Angular developer’s salary at €70 000 per year.

As a result of this increase, they now earn 2.6% more than the average JavaScript developer with more than ten years of experience. They still earn 5.7% less than their React counterparts, however.

Keep in mind

The data in this article is taken from OfferZen’s 2022 Netherlands Developer Report. In this article, “salary” refers to the gross annual salary (before tax) provided by 510 survey respondents.

We only included salary insights for experience levels with enough data points to ensure that the amounts represent Angular developers in the country. That’s why we excluded entry-level developer salaries for this article.

Average salaries are single data points and only one part of a bigger story. Many respondents may earn significantly more or less than these averages. However, we hope to map underlying trends by tracking the average salaries for different experience levels.

These averages should not be used to estimate what your actual salary will or should be.

Salaries depend on the company size, industry, individual, perks and nature of work. These factors all influence the salary a company will offer to a prospective hire. In addition, most developers are “fluent” in several languages, which will affect the final figures.

It’s also essential to remember that every individual’s context is different. Salary is a personal conversation that should take place between employee and employer.
