🔑 Her team wasn't hurt by being overruled, they were hurt by not being warned: Anemari ran her team through a long strategy debate, then had to defer to the client's decision anyway. The trust damage came from not saying upfront how much real decision-making power the team actually had, a lesson she now applies to every call that isn't fully theirs to make.

🔑 Letting go of control is the real job, not a soft skill: The mindset shift that took Anemari longest wasn't technical, it was accepting she couldn't control outcomes the way she could as an individual contributor, and that over-controlling actively blocks her team's growth.

🔑 Vulnerability builds more technical credibility than pretending does: Anemari was often doubted early in her career (partly for looking young for the role). Her fix: be upfront about what she doesn't know, then show she can learn fast and ask the right questions — rather than trying to out-bluff the doubt.

Salary discussions are some of the most critical discussions to happen between managers and employees – but often the constraints are already set in company wide budget meetings.

Managers who know how to advocate for their team members are better set up to navigate these budget conversations. A solid budget can make or break how satisfied your new hires and existing team members are with their compensation. To make matters even more complicated, salary is an individual experience that should be tackled on a case-by-case basis.

Should you match a counter offer? Should team members with similar roles earn the same? Making mistakes when it comes to salary can be really painful and can cost you high performing team members in the long run.

In this event, we’ll deep dive into these challenges to set you up to win in salary conversations with your tech team.

Join the conversation with fellow tech leaders to delve into:
