What we do
WRP is a specialist engineering consultancy, with an international reputation in the fields of water resources engineering, water conservation and water demand management.
A key part of our work involves monitoring water resources and services - from dam and river levels, to water distribution networks, water consumption at industrial and household level. We were, for example, involved at highest level during the recent water crisis in Cape Town, helping reduce water losses through pressure management on the distribution network. Our bespoke monitoring systems made all the difference.
Where you fit in
As a member of our software team, you will mainly be involved with development (and maintenance) of our IoT platform called Zednet ( www.zednet.co.za ) While the SaaS platform is now 6 years old, its modular architecture means we are constantly doing new developments to meet the needs of new clients, new hardware and system integrations etc. The small development team split their time between maintaining and monitoring live systems, developing custom tools to meet client needs, and updating core modules as better technologies become available.
We’re a small specialist team of equals, all professionals who respect each others’ expertise. The software team collaborate and report at top management level. As civil engineers we solve real world problems with solutions that are designed to be robust and last for years. The software developers are considered experts in their domain, and are left largely left at their own direction. They define their own processes, but are are expected to collaborate with the rest of the consulting team to make good things happen. Their key mandate is to innovate - to conceive and implement ideas that support and grow our consulting work.
Our Hiring Process
Hiring is straight forward. You will initially communicate with our lead developer to see if there is a mutual fit from a tech perspective. Following this, you are directly passed on to the management team to talk about a potential role in the WRP/Zednet team.
