Summary

What we do

VR Group is an engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the design and fabrication of high-performance earth-moving attachments used in mining operations around the world. Our products—from truck trays to dragline buckets—are engineered to improve efficiency, durability, and productivity in some of the toughest operating environments.

While our roots are in mechanical engineering and fabrication, software has become a critical part of how we operate. Our internal development team builds systems that support everything from engineering workflows and production processes to operational reporting and automation across the business.

Why Work For Us

Instead of working on generic products, our developers solve highly specific, real-world problems that directly impact how our organisation functions.

The development team is small, which means every engineer has meaningful ownership of what they build. Developers work closely with engineers, operations teams, and management to design solutions that genuinely improve how the business runs.

The role offers exposure to the full software lifecycle—from understanding business problems to designing, building, and deploying solutions.

Our Culture

We are looking for developers who enjoy solving practical problems, learning new technologies, and working in a collaborative environment where software directly supports real engineering and manufacturing operations.

At VR, developers don’t just write code—they build tools that help move thousands of tonnes of steel and power the systems behind world-class mining equipment.

Our Engineering Processes

Our internal development team builds systems that support engineering workflows, production processes, reporting, and automation across the business.

Our core development stack includes:

Backend: C# and .NET Core (REST APIs)

Frontend: Vue.js with Quasar

Database: PostgreSQL

Legacy systems: WPF, ASP.NET, VB.NET, VBA, and Microsoft SQL Server

Developers work closely with engineers and operations teams to understand problems, design practical solutions, and implement systems that improve how the business operates.

Our Hiring Process

Our hiring process is designed to be straightforward and practical.

Candidates first complete a short Microsoft questionnaire. Selected candidates are then invited to a single in-person interview where we discuss their experience and approach to problem solving. The interview typically includes a practical skills test completed on the same day.

This process allows us to get a good sense of how candidates think and work, while keeping the hiring experience efficient and transparent.

A mining haul truck carrying a full load of ore in an open-pit operation. Our company designs and builds the trays used on equipment like this, supporting the movement of massive volumes of material in the mining industry.
A massive hydraulic face shovel used to load thousands of tons of rock each day in an open-pit mine. Our company manufactures the heavy-duty buckets used on machines like this.
Where code meets steel. Our workshop is where massive mining attachments are built, and our software team develops the systems that support engineering, production, and operations across the factory.
Our Secret Santa celebration in action. We believe great teams are built not only through good work, but also through shared moments and a strong team culture.
