What Thinkst does

Information security is in a woeful state, and Thinkst is making a difference with security products that tackle tough problems across the globe. Thanks to our extensive careers as software/network/system breakers, we've got a good sense of what works and what doesn't, and we're bringing that experience to market through products that make our clients safer.

Our Thinkst Canary is a unique honeypot system deployed across networks you use frequently, with customers including Silicon Valley unicorns, a nuclear research lab, retailers, financial services, academic institutions and more, across all seven (yes, seven!) continents.

Don't take our word for it... our customers frequently express their love.

Why Work For Us

You'll make a difference. We're small, and your code will quickly be running on networks you've only dreamed of. We pay well, leave is extremely flexible and fixed work hours are unknown in these parts.

We believe in exploration and setting aside time for fiddling. We're regular presenters at international security events and everyone in the company in encouraged to speak at conferences.

If you're looking for a company where you might touch kernel modules, Python code, and Javascript in a 6-month period, Thinkst is the place for you.

Values

These are the four principles that guide what we do:

  1. Be a learning organisation
  2. Do well by doing good
  3. Be a refuge from mediocrity
  4. Delight our customers

Our Culture

We're a remote-first company. You'll get the equipment needed to work from home if you choose that option, otherwise we also have office space in both Cape Town (Observatory) and Johannesburg (Sunninghill).

We aim to deliver on our promises. We also treat our people right. Customer queries get dealt with as a priority.

We believe in pushing our people in unfamiliar directions. As a company of unashamed generalists, we're equally happy slinging Python as we are poking around in the kernel. There are no holy cows here; we pick and use tech that works for the task at hand.

In our a small team, each person has a voice and the best idea wins. We hire primarily on team fit and potential; inexperience is not a hinderance if you're capable and willing to learn.

Getting hired

Our hiring process is straight forward. There will be an initial Zoom call where we introduce the company and role. It's followed by at least one technical evaluation, plus additional Zoom interviews with our team.
