Monday through Thursday you are working on client projects.
Friday starts with a company-wide standup where each person shares what they have done over the week, what they have learned, and what they want to share with others. The standup ends with a briefing on where the company is, what's happened and what's going to happen - maximum transparency.
We are big on transfering knowledge, mentorship and supporting each other. We run the company quite autonomously, with pods of developers and designers being responisble for themselves and self managing to ensure that tasks get done.
Our Engineering Processes
It starts with a scoping project where our designers and analysts work together with the client to understand their market problem, business model, end users, team composition, competitors and together with our clients we come up with a proposal for a viable system (In the form of an interactive prototype that gets tested)
Once we know the budget and timeline we scope out what features are most important and how we can build the system in a modular fashion. For each sprint our analyst and the developers come together to do whiteboard solution architecture where everyone discusses the problem and how it will be solved, as well as how much time each feature will take, which is relayed to the client and the decide what features they want to go with. We usually work in two-week sprints for each project, ranging from 2-4 developers per sprint. We then release, test, analyze, and incorporate feedback while planning out the next sprint.
You will be very involved with the architecture and engineering decisions in your autonomous pod/squad. You will likely be working on 2-3 projects. We don’t shift between sprints unless there is a live bug that urgently needs squashing, but we do test-driven development as to cut bugs. We have great branching strategies, conversions, and really clean code to optimize collaborative projects.
