Rethink education currently provides 10 textbooks worth of Maths and Science content in an interactive single page application designed for mobile viewing with the aim of reducing data costs to a minimum.
The Maths and Science content is CAPS aligned and is presented in a chat-style format for easy interactive learning.
We have also recently launched a learners license version of the app and are aiming to expand our content to include other CAPS syllabus subjects and Life Orientation topics.
Over the past four years, during the time when feature phones were more prevalent amongst our target audience, we'd developed an application to serve our content through Mxit allowing students to download educational content specifically tailored for their mobile devices. Since the dramatic increase in smartphone users our product has had to evolve and adjust, leading us to our decision to develop a web application in order to cater for our users' new needs. During our Mxit era the app found traction with widespread usage and over 500 000 students downloading the app.
Part of our tech stack is using the Java Spring framework for our API and we are currently looking for a senior back-end developer to join our team in continuing the development and maintenance of our product.
