In 2017, Graham Williams, our founder and CEO, and Rory Gaddin, co-founder and
our Product Design and Development Lead, began collaborating on finding ways to
solve some of the pervading frustrations experienced by management teams in the
age of data-driven decision-making.
Having both worked in the field of Business Intelligence for 20 years and being
involved in various management situations with both small and larger teams, it was
apparent to them that there was an industry-wide struggle to make sense of the
deluge of information that was available to managers, and to translate this into
good decision making.
Their theory was that, while data has undeniable power in telling you where you are
(think the blue dot on your GPS) something was missing in terms of getting teams
to really, deeply articulate where they wanted to get to (i.e., the blue dot is only
meaningful if you know where your destination is). Knowing the destination, which
is a lot harder than it sounds, will bring clarity about to how to harness the power
of the organization’s resources, including its people and data, to its fullest potential.
And so, the Raykis platform was born as a way of creating a kind of shared digital
memory for the organization; a place where they can collaborate on expressing and
reflecting on their deepest motivations, to turn that shared understanding into
concrete plans and goals, and to execute on their plans with a sustained sense of
purpose and accountability to themselves and one another.
Over the past few years, we have been working hard on building out our “core”
product and are now in the exciting process of taking it to the market, as well as
building out the next phase of our technology. We’ll need skilled and passionate
folks like yourself to help us along that journey, and we hope you’ll be as excited
about the potential of what we can create together as we are.
At Raykis we want to hold each other accountable to be the kind of organization we
are advocating that our customers become. This is a self-organizing, highly
collaborative team, with a strong focus on balancing individual autonomy and
group accountability.
We believe that, by giving each member of the team the latitude to decide how to
apply themselves to the challenges and opportunities we face, we will ultimately
unlock their fullest potential as individuals. This is of course balanced by a healthy
culture of continually challenging our own and each other’s thinking.
To help you to figure out whether you would enjoy working with us, below are listed
our core values, which we strive to hold ourselves accountable to. When you join
our team, you are agreeing to pursue these values, and you get to challenge us on
how we are doing, too.
We realise that we don't know it all and are grateful for the opportunity to learn
from others.
We don't tolerate arrogance in ourselves or others and are prepared to challenge it
when we see it, and to be challenged by others.
We are passionate but not precious about our beliefs, opinions, and plans. This
means that we are happy to dialogue and debate respectfully with others. We
realise that to mature and grow, we must always challenge and sometimes change
our beliefs, opinions and plans.
We give due consideration to all stakeholders who are affected by our actions, e.g.,
colleagues, peers, clients, suppliers, community, environment.
We do not exercise undue bias towards one over the others, nor do we practice the
wilful exclusion of any.
We realise that a healthy life means prioritising time for family and friends.
We take the time to develop interests beyond our careers, such as hobbies,
exercise, volunteer work, etc.
Kung Fu literally means “adroitness” or “a high level of skill achieved over time with
effort”. Whether that skill is leadership, relationship, technical etc.
We find personal satisfaction in learning the nuances of our skillset and finding
ways to refine our output steadily over time into something we are proud to put
our names to.
We are passionate about what we do and have a desire to share our knowledge
with others.
We want to be known as significant contributors in our field.
When we see something that needs changing, we actively take steps to involve
ourselves in making that change happen.
We take moments out to celebrate our victories but soon find ourselves looking for
the next challenge.
