What we do
Quicket is one of South Africa's biggest online ticketing providers. It's a self-managed platform that allows anyone running an event to sell tickets to their event online. It's more than that though, people use Quicket to raise funds, collect donations, pay their friends back, run raffles, sell merchandise and more. With over 500 events of all shapes and sizes on the site at any point, things are never dull around here! We want to make the most awesome ticketing systems for events, and be the best at events in SA and Africa.
Why Work For Us
We started in late 2011 and have grown in those 4 - 5 years to be probably the second largest provider in SA in terms of number of events, and online traffic. That's all been done with 3 devs, and we think it's time to grow that number! So, why work for us? You'll get to be part of a tight knit family, that celebrates creativity and ingenious solutions to complicated problems. You'll get freedom to work on your own projects, and collaboration opportunities when all the devs get stuck in on a problem together. There are no cogs in a machine here, no corporation. You'll personally be building the best eventing software in Africa!
Quicket is a family of 10 like-minded and yet totally different individuals. We've become friends at work and outside of it. Because we're an events-based company, we often attend events (and get plenty of free tickets too!)
Our attitude towards our event organisers and ticket buyers is that no problem is insignificant, and should be solved in a scalable and reproducible way so as to benefit others who use the platform. That has led to us being a well loved brand.
We want people to run better events. We want to help them do that, and we want to have fun doing it!
Our Engineering Processes
Currently with a development team of 3 (two of which are founders), we have a straightforward process. Projects are divided up according to who is best suited or who wants to do it. In special cases, we will team up on a big project or problem.
We don't do Scrum.
We use Git for version control, and when a feature is ready for production, we publish. As the team grows, we may formalise the process a little more, as and when it's needed.
Our Hiring Process
We will interview you - this is a discussion to figure out if we will be a good fit for you. In the interview we will try and get a feeling for your experience in various technologies that are relevant to our platform. If we feel satisfied that you have the required experience, we'll make you an offer.
So, what cool stuff will you work on?
Depends on you. If you're better on front end, we'll get you involved in our Cordova app. That's an app that allows organisers to scan people's barcoded tickets at the event. It uses mobile Angular UI, AngularJS, Firebase for offline / online syncing capabilites. We want to add the ability to sell tickets, and get great reporting in the app as well. Best part - it's all done in JS and HTML.
If you're better on the back end, we'll get you building out our integrations layer. Quicket currently only has one integration in our layer, and that's with MailChimp, allowing organisers to connect their MailChimp account to their Quicket event. When folks buy tickets to the event, their details go straight through to the organiser's MailChimp account. We'd like to build more of these integrations, to make Quicket more universally useful to organisers.
If you're an all rounder, we'll get you building a new CRM for organisers within Quicket. Loads of organisers run multiple events on Quicket and need a way to see who has been to all their events combined, segment them, talk to them, offer promotions to them, SMS them and find out more about them. It's not a traditional CRM - it's a tool to help organisers to understand their people, communicate with them, and get them all to go to their next event.
With internationalisation on the horizon, and loads more, you'll be challenged and stimulated with the projects coming up!
