PMD is a direct marketing financial services business focussed on personal lines products in the motor, life and health insurance markets.
Launched in 2009, PMD is part of a wider financial services group that was first established in 2002 by Dr Brian Benfield - who is the founder of Clientele Life Limited (listed on the JSE). Dr Benfield currently plays a non-executive role in the group.
PMD's mission is to make the lives of ordinary South Africans better by giving them affordable, high-value insurance alternatives not available before.
To date, PMD has successfully innovated a range of next-generation motor insurance products that have created entirely new, affordable options for millions of South African motorists who previously had no choice but to drive uninsured because of the high cost of traditional comprehensive motor insurance offerings.
In a nutshell, PMD doesn't do conventional. We operate outside of the traditional, pioneering new markets and products appropriate to the South African context - something few other financial services businesses can honestly claim.

PMD has grown significantly over the past 9 years from +/- 30 people to now close to 300 with a policyholder book to match! As we have grown there has been more and more of a need to provide great analytical insight into the performance of the company and its operations.
