Summary

What we do

Open Cities Lab is a non-profit organisation ( 229-096NPO) established by a group of founding members who desire to serve the common good through the advancement of transparency.

We are governed by a Board of Directors currently made up of Matthew Adendorff, Bryden Neville, and Richard Gevers. Our main operations occur at our HQ in Glenwood, Durban, SA and we have just opened a small office in Rosebank, Johannesburg, SA. Get in touch with us or find us on social media (links in the footer)!

Why Work For Us

We are a growing, agile team who believe that through empowering citizens, building trust and accountability in civic space, and building capacity with government, we will enable participation in decision-making, evidence-based urban intervention, and inclusive co-design that will improve the lives of residents in urban spaces.

Our Culture

We’re always looking to collaborate and work with dynamic, forward thinkers in the ever changing civic tech space. Our organisation is made up of Researchers, Software Developers, Economists, Data Scientists and Designers who get to constantly expand their knowledge and learn peripheral skills as part of the job. We are all driven by a common purpose as a non-partisan community founded on the belief of equality and inclusion through openness across all aspects of society.
