We have massive long term plans to unlock the potential of construction across Africa by servicing small construction companies with SIMPLE software. Our international and local partners ensure adequate funding and now it's all about building a kick-ass team on the ground in South Africa.
Our product has multiple beta modules which are in the market with key partners and are creating huge value already. There are big opportunities for incoming team members to make their mark on the future success of the business. Our roadmap for the next 12 months takes us into machine vision, hardware creation / integration, mobile app development for discrete modules, outsourced heavy data crunching to external powerful apps (Go, etc) along with continual improvement and addition to the existing innovative package.
One of our points of difference to other companies is that we are a construction-specialty company, so everyone in the business needs to be passionate about connecting with the industry. Team members have a high level of automation to make or break their opportunities in the company. We are mad about up-skilling our members, so we generally look for people who have demonstrated excellence but are also curious about growing in other areas.
We have invested a lot of time to design a comprehensive CI process with gitlab and multiple servers on AWS. The app is primarily based on Ruby on Rails, but we are increasingly spending more time writing js than ruby to achieve the required UX simplicity. Our test coverage is currently 93% +, and we are completely committed to working with clean, beautiful code and transparent collaboration. We embrace best practice, but will sometimes make a careful decision to invent our own practices where it is more pragmatic.
Our hiring process involves a challenge (coding challenge for developers) and interviews. We always have positions available for legendary skills but we won't hire for the sake of filling a position.
