Who is a ibay We are a full service digital agency operating since 2014, whose range of services includes design, website and web app development, social media strategy and management, bulk email marketing communications and paid advertising. Our studio is based in Salt River, Cape Town and we subscribe to a hybrid working model with time split between remote and in studio working. Web at ibay Since our inception, our web development framework has been tightly aligned with the Wordpress platform. Initially we were developing more basic websites using the platform, and over the years our offering has grown to become more advanced - we have developed LMS for corporates, online stores for multiple online retailers and various web apps for companies based around the world. Throughout we have leveraged the open ended characteristics of Wordpress and used it as the backbone for our project. Our short to mid term goals for web are split into 3: Headless Wordpress - Build the proficiency to use WP purely as a CMS and utilise the intrinsic WP REST API to interact with non Wordpress front end, notably React JS. This would be catered more to bespoke or larger projects. Block theme / Elementor Wordpress - Build the proficiency to use WP Block theme / editor (Gutenberg) or Elementor to quickly create and turn around simple ‘run of the mill’ websites. These smaller sites would serve as stop gaps between our larger projects. In house product offerings - using our skill set to develop standalone products that we can offer to end users on a subscription basis. Examples include digital information guides, appointment booking platforms etc. Our ideal candidate We are looking for a junior to mid level candidate, whose skill set incorporates the above. The candidate will quickly become an essential part of the dev team. Over time the goal is for the candidate to take over more work from the senior developer who is also a director of the company. ● Experience using the Wordpress platform, including: ○ Theme and plugin development ○ Familiarity with Block editor and / or Elementor ○ Migration and deployment of WP sites ○ WP REST API (beneficial) ● Knowledge of the following: ○ PHP, HTML, CSS and JS ○ React JS ○ JSON ○ MySQL (beneficial) ● Characteristics of the ideal candidate� ○ Attention to detail with a good visual eye ○ Strong work ethic with the ability to work unsupervised ○ Inquisitive and eager to learn new methods and technologies / impart knowledge onto colleagues ○ Good communication skills
