It all started in 2008, when one-time passwords and compulsory malware downloads were at the cutting edge of financial technology and used by most banks to protect their customers during digital transactions.
When a family member of one of Entersekt’s co-founders fell victim to a phishing attack despite these measures, it set in motion a series of events that would lead to the development of the Entersekt Secure Platform (ESP) – the foundation on which the company’s solutions are built – and the realization of a better, more secure way for users to transact with their banks and other financial institutions.
In 2009, after patents were filed and funding was secured, Entersekt’s five founding members opened the doors to the first Entersekt office, in Stellenbosch. Years later, and the company has expanded to nine offices around the world (two in Cape Town!) and a growing tally of over 150 employees.
