About Direct Transact (Pty) Ltd

How we started

Direct Transact (Pty) Ltd originated through a management buy-out of the Electronic Banking Division of a former South African Retail Bank, in September 2002. Direct Transact soon became the first Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and Payments-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider to the financial services industries in South Africa.

From the start, our company has specialised in providing services to the banking, retail, and corporate industries, offering turnkey solutions relating to any form of electronic transaction processing and account hosting services. A complete technology refresh has elevated our cutting-edge solution ensuring that it is geared to servicing our customers in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

We own all our intellectual property and are not dependent on any 3rd-party vendor for our service or software. Today, the majority of all clearing and settlement banks in South Africa are Direct Transact customers.

What we offer

Banking

We’ve got the full range of banking products covered - transactions, saving, lending and investments, asset, and property finance, along with business and corporate accounts. We also have fraud management, tiered authorisation, and so much more.

Payments

Our payment hub leverages the accessibility of cloud deployment technology to create a secure environment in which customers can use any payment entry point to access internal payment transaction sources. We are Visa and Mastercard certified for both local and international issuing and acquiring services and we facilitate all South African payment streams and payment types.

Card management services

We provide physical cards, virtual cards and tokenisation for banks, corporates, and retailers. Additionally, we cover interbank connectivity, dispute resolution, settlements, merchant management and eCommerce support.

Reconciliation & settlement

Ensuring up to date and 100% correct settlement figures and reconciliation process is our speciality. Whether it's financial operations or back-office processes, we keep things synchronised, stable, accurate, balanced and on point.

We run an automated reconciliation process at a transactional level with real-time data across all payment streams. This allows us to keep a central record of all transactions processed through Visa, Mastercard and the South African National Payment System handling interbank disputes and lost/stolen cards.
