Summary
What is CRAM?
The Coronavirus Rapid Mobile Survey (CRAM) is a new nationally-representative panel survey of 10,000 South Africans conducted. The aim is to provide monthly nationally-representative data on key outcomes during the pandemic, such as unemployment, household income, child hunger and access to government grants. CRAM is a collaboration of researchers from a number of top South African universities, with support from high-level government officials from the Office of the Presidency, National Treasury and the Department of Health.
To help make sure the results from the survey are as accessible and effective as possible for policy-makers, journalists, and members of civil society, we'll be writing regular policy briefs on the results, as well as building an interactive data portal for use by the public.
