Our Engineering Processes
The Engineering team at Clickatell embrace Agile as defined in the Agile Manifesto. We believe in empowered, autonomous teams who solve problems using the skills and experience that earned them the role in the first place. The Engineering department lives by a set of Working Agreements that ensure we make work visible, engage and collaborate with each other and break down knowledge silos. Beyond that, freedom and flexibility for you and your team to self-organise in the best way is given. Clickatell's 4 Scrum teams work on a two-week sprint cadence, where Reviews and Retrospectives are very important. Communities of Practice (COPs) allow members of the same discipline from various teams (for example Database Administrators) to gather regularly to discuss technology decisions that reach across team boundaries. All team members, including the Scrum Product Owner, are peers. Leadership emerges based on the topic at hand where expertise and the merit of an idea hold the most weight.
Learning from mistakes is encouraged, experimentation welcome. Teams implement "haydays" to allow new ideas, perhaps unrelated to current projects, to be explored. A generous training and consultant budget allows team members to be exposed to new ideas and external input. Popular industry conferences are also attended yearly. Clickatell employs Agile Coaches to support and grow the team.
