Azoteq is a pioneer in multi-sensor technologies on a single chip. With more than a decade of capacitive sensing experience, the sensor offering is now expanded to include ProxFusion®: multi-sensor technologies on single ICs. The first generation of ProxFusion® offers capacitive sensing, Hall-effect, IR, PIR, inductive, and ambient light sensing.
The 2nd generation of ProxFusion® will add further sensor technologies to the IC.
Azoteq has design and manufacturing centers in South Africa and China, and sales offices and distributors in South Africa, Asia, Europe, and the USA.
Business History
Azoteq is a fabless semiconductor company founded by Dr. Frederick Bruwer in 1998. The company initially developed the LightSense™ range of products that enabled intelligent control for LED flashlights and headlamps. In 2004 the company decided to focus on the emerging touch and proximity markets and developed a range of products based on its intellectual property. Since 2004 Azoteq was the first to integrate the reference capacitor on-chip in a touch controller, first to incorporate on-chip calibration, first to combine a single antenna for proximity and touch sensing, first to incorporate on-chip RF detection, and first to enable capacitive sensing through a top metal deformation plate. 2016 sees the introduction of ProxFusion® multi-sensor technology embedded on single IC's. This new product range takes Azoteq to the forefront of sensor technology once again.
