Andani.Africa

What we do

Andani.Africa is Africa's only specialist creative economy research and insights agency, since 2016. We are a data-forward company that aims to grow and strengthen the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) in Africa. We create and co-create valuable insights through research, strategic advisory, and content engagement. Our goal is to leverage data power for innovative creative industry solutions based on industry data analysis and trend forecasting expertise.

As a growing company we have identified immense need in the arena of enabling collation, management and analysis of data in the creative sector. A significant 10% of all jobs in Africa are creative jobs. South Africa's creative industry contributed to its GDP at the equivalent level to Agriculture. And yet so much of the sector's economic potential, its needs and its solutions are invisible due to a lack of data collection, standardisation and optimisation. This is the work Andani.Africa is committed to, and is looking to grow tech solutions for.

Why Work For Us

We believe in the power of data to drive innovative solutions and foster the growth of the creative economy in Africa.
Our purpose is premised on the belief that sophisticated ways of data collection and analysis need to be developed to navigate the complexities of the CCIs in Africa. This will in turn enable Africa to reach its full potential.

We also believe in facing complex challenges head on - and one of those is meaningful data collection and application on the African continent, and especially in the creative sector. We are excited to work with a team of people eager to tackle the complex challenge of building software solutions for data in Africa, and helping African's apply that data for better decision making, growth and development.

If you're passionate about Africa, data, tech for good, and the creative economy, Andani.Africa could be a great fit for you.

Our Culture

Our culture is rooted in a deep understanding of the creative and cultural industries in Africa. We value knowledge and expertise that not only articulates opportunities and areas of growth, but is informed by a deep understanding of contextual operations and ecosystems of CCIs in Africa. We're a team of researchers, analysts, and CCI programming specialists, committed to advancing the CCIs in Africa.

We have a culture that encourages curiosity, experimentation and addressing the gaps! We are also committed to healthy work environments and supporting our team to grow and expand their interests. As a small company we are able to connect and support in individualised ways.

Our Engineering Processes

Our Our processes so far have been focused on light and nimble tech that meets our needs and helps us operate efficiently as a non-tech-centred company, using Gmail, Google Apps, Cloud based operations, Gravity Forms, Mobile Friendly, and NLP based tools to support research work.
We seek a team that are interested to help us grow into a tech-forward company, and support and enable tech expertise to lead us in the right direction for our needs. We plan to build our solutions on AWS.

Our Hiring Processes

Our hiring process is designed to find candidates who share our passion for seeking solutions to African problems. We are looking to develop a small tech team, and as such build a new part of the company, establish cultures and capabilities to create exciting new products that address creative economy needs.
We intend on a two interview process and technical review, with the intention to ideally hire for a start date this side of the year.
