The Reach Trust is a “technology for good” organisation, dedicated to improving peoples’ lives by providing innovative technology solutions to solve real issues. Over the past decade we have reached more than 10 million people with our various projects. We work in partnership with international donors like the United Nations and the Roger Federer Foundation, as well as numerous South African organisations.

Lead Android Developer Role

As the Lead Android Developer your primary responsibilities will include conceptualising and implementing new projects and features, maintaining existing projects, ensuring quality scalable code through reviewing and testing, and ensuring tech team effectiveness. You will work in a small Agile tech team together with an experienced senior back-end developer, data analyst, web developer, and a product manager.

We like our employees to be involved in all steps of the development process. From initial ideas, mockups, designs–planning, development and testing—to publishing and maintenance. Your opinions and contributions at each step will be truly valued.

We have a flexible working environment and support remote work, but we do encourage staff to meet at our Stellenbosch office on a regular basis to ensure that we keep building our strong team dynamic.

Ideal candidate profile

5+ years of experience in Android mobile development.
One or more of the following will be big pluses
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer science, Engineering or equivalent.
Experience with managing a tech team for a project from conception to maintenance.
Experience in cross-platform development such as Flutter.
Proficiency in Kotlin, SQLite and Observer Pattern.
