Role description

We're building a fully integrated mobile and fintech platform at Mission Mobile, spanning devices, connectivity, underwriting, billing, and lifecycle management. As our Head of Engineering, you'll own the architecture, execution, and performance of our entire technology stack. This is a critical leadership role where you'll build a high-performing engineering team and deliver systems that operate reliably at scale across all our products—from onboarding and credit decisioning to payments, collections, dealer tools, and partner integrations. You'll lead engineering at both strategic and hands-on levels, defining architecture, reviewing code, and driving execution speed without compromising quality. Your responsibilities span building and scaling the team, owning end-to-end system architecture (APIs, data, infrastructure, integrations), and overseeing core systems including credit engines, payments, device management, and partner integrations with MNOs, OEMs, and fintech APIs. You'll partner closely with Product to ship quickly and consistently, implement strong development processes, and ensure high uptime through robust monitoring and incident response. Engineering is the backbone of Mission Mobile. Our platform must work flawlessly in high-volume, real-world environments—from real-time credit decisioning to billing, collections, and device control. Success in this role means fast and consistent product releases, stable systems with minimal downtime, scalable infrastructure, clean codebases, and a strong engineering culture with high ownership. We value leaders with high ownership, a bias for action, practical experience in fintech or high-scale consumer platforms, and 8–12+ years of software engineering with proven leadership experience building production systems that actually work.

Our Hiring Process

  1. Initial Screening (Outbound/Inbound) - quick assessment to evaluate the candidate’s basic qualifications, alignment with company values, and potential fit for the role.
  2. Team Lead + Team Member Interview - The team lead, along with another team member, conducts an interview to assess the candidate’s technical knowledge, collaboration skills, and ability to fit into the team dynamic.
  3. Technical Task (Product Jam Session/Coding Task) - A hands-on task where candidates showcase your problem-solving skills and technical expertise. This could be a product brainstorming session or an in-person coding challenge.
  4. Founder Interview - The final interview with the founder to assess cultural fit, passion, and alignment with the company’s vision.
