Role description
We're looking for a Decision Scientist to sit at the core of how we make money and manage risk. This is not a pure research role—it's applied, commercial, and tightly linked to business performance. You'll be responsible for building, testing, and improving the logic that drives approvals, pricing, limits, and collections, working across credit, product, and growth teams to continuously optimize outcomes using data. In this role, you'll design and optimize approval strategies, build affordability and risk logic using bank statement data and behavioral signals, and own segmentation frameworks for risk tiers and customer cohorts. You'll run structured A/B tests on approval criteria, pricing, deposit requirements, and product structures, analyzing impact on conversion, default rates, and unit economics. You'll also track critical metrics like approval rates, early delinquency, and cohort performance, building dashboards for leadership and identifying system weaknesses. Working closely with ML and engineering teams, you'll translate model outputs into real-world decision rules and ensure models are production-ready. We're seeking someone with 3–7 years of experience in fintech, lending, or data science in a commercial environment, with strong analytical skills in SQL and Python. You should have solid understanding of credit risk, unit economics, and A/B testing, plus experience working on decision systems covering approvals, pricing, fraud, or collections. Most importantly, you're a commercial thinker who's obsessed with outcomes—profitability, growth, and loss reduction—and you're comfortable making decisions with imperfect data and moving fast. Success in this role is measured by improved approval-to-conversion rates, reduced bad debt, increased profitability per customer, and the speed and quality of your decision iterations.
