Role description

Become part of Team Wetu!

Wetu creates and provides software solutions that assist the travel industry to collaborate and serve their customers efficiently. We are passionate about our products, the industry that we serve, and the teams we build.

We look for team members who:

  • master their game.
  • deliver the goods.
  • collaborate and believe in being better together.
  • progress on a personal level.
  • keep the person in mind.

About the Opportunity:

We're looking for a UX/UI Designer with Product Designer expertise who’s curious, strategic, and excited about shaping meaningful digital experiences in the travel industry. You’ll join our design team and help shape how travel professionals (and their clients) around the world use our products.

This role is ideal for someone who brings fresh ideas to real problems and is ready to dive into complexity across a web and mobile ecosystem. You’ll bring structure to complexity by creating intuitive and scalable experiences that make a difference in the day-to-day work of our users.

You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers and your fellow designers to foster a product mindset - using insights to help shape what gets built and designing with purpose for both users and our business

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research (both qualitative and quantitative) to gather insights, identify user needs and guide design decisions
  • Create flow diagrams, wireframes and hi-fidelity prototypes to communicate design ideas effectively
  • Design clear, consistent, and scalable UI components that align with our design language and support a reuse across teams
  • Work collaboratively within your cross-functional team
  • Design intuitive interaction flows that reduce user friction and simplify complex workflows.
  • Find solutions alongside Software Engineers and Software Testers to ensure design feasibility and smooth handover during implementation
  • Partner with Product Managers to align designs with product vision, goals and success metrics
  • Design with strategic intent, ensuring designs meet user needs and support long-term vision, product goals, and business strategy
  • Present designs across the business, communicate design rationale, and gather feedback to continuously improve
  • Apply systems thinking and information architecture to solve design problems across a complex product ecosystem
  • Run usability testing and incorporate insights into iterative design improvements
  • Maintain high design standards while working in an Agile, fast-paced product environment
  • Embrace feedback, share openly in team discussions and help foster a collaborative, growth-minded design culture
  • Define what success looks like for your designs, track outcomes with your team, and iterate based on user behaviour and product impact.

What You Bring:

  • You bring 3–5 years’ experience in UX/UI design, product design, or interaction design, ideally in a SaaS environment
  • A strategic mindset, you're able to design what's right for the user and for the business
  • Experience working with complex digital products and systems
  • Strong UX/UI fundamentals and understanding of human-centred design
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD (or similar tools)
  • Confidence in building flows, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Thrive while communicating and collaborating with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Software Testers
  • Critical thinking to prioritise, manage your own workflow, and work to deadlines
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum environments and design workflows
  • Bonus: Experience designing beautiful and content rich web and mobile experiences (or a clear desire to grow here)

You Will Love the Opportunity if:

  • You’re passionate about crafting user experiences that are purposeful, intuitive, and visually engaging
  • You’re a systems and product thinker who enjoys solving complex challenges with scalable, strategic design solutions
  • You think beyond individual screens, designing with the bigger picture in mind, including user behaviour change, business goals, and long-term product evolution
  • You work best in collaborative environments and value feedback as a key part of doing great work
  • You’re adaptable and comfortable with change, able to shift focus and reprioritise
  • You’re curious, self-motivated, and eager to grow your skills across web, mobile, and design systems
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders while building strong relationships
  • You’re interested in the travel industry and want to contribute to something that helps people explore the world

What You’ll Love About Us:

  • We have a passion for the user experience and take pride in your work.
  • We are client-focused and can empathise with the end-user.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a wide range of platforms, including web and mobile.
  • We enjoy solving problems within a diverse cross-functional team
  • The satisfaction of working for a purpose-driven business where your contributions directly improve the client experience
  • Cape Town based with flexible on-site and remote work to support great outcomes and collaboration
  • An attractive total compensation package with an annual bonus.
  • Statutory annual leave + additional leave for being part of Wetu, increasing with your length of service.
  • The day off on your birthday
  • A day off to help you attend to life’s admin
