Role description
We're seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to lead our data engineering function at Hepstar, a Cape Town-based TravelTech company. You'll design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using GCP and AWS, powering our business intelligence, analytics, and AI initiatives. As the sole data engineering expert in our small team, you'll have the opportunity to shape our future data strategy and make a significant impact. In this role, you'll manage data infrastructure costs, develop end-to-end data pipelines, and maintain data models and warehousing solutions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide reliable and accurate data for various initiatives, automate processes, and contribute to our technical roadmaps. We're looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, a delivery mindset, and a passion for leveraging data to unlock business value. Join our vibrant Product & Engineering Scrum Team and work alongside talented professionals in a dynamic, challenging environment. We offer a competitive salary of R40-R45k per month, with remote and hybrid options available. Our Engineering Processes
Our technology is primarily written in Java. Our tech stack consist of API endpoints that our clients integrate with, administrative & reporting portals, an e-commerce website and data engineering infrastructure that forms the basis for our product recommendation engine. We’re a fast-paced agile development environment where we’re continuously building new features to stay ahead of the curve and solve for the most pressing problems our customers are facing. Being in a fast paced environment, we run our sprints in 2-week cycles with deployments happening at the end of each sprint.
