Role description
Macadamias South Africa NPC (SAMAC) is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to lead data analysis and statistical reporting across the macadamia industry. This role is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights, developing interactive dashboards, and producing reports that inform strategic, operational, and industry-wide decision-making.
Key Competencies Required
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in data visualisation and storytelling using Power BI, Excel, and SQL, with the ability to analyse, manipulate, and present data effectively. Proficient in writing and optimising complex queries for efficient data extraction, transformation, and automated reporting.
• Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and secure data from both internal and external role-players.
• Change Management: Comfortable navigating change and leading others through evolving environments. Flexible and proactive in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
DUTIES:
Data Quality, Validation and Analysis
• Source, analyse and interpret data to meet industry needs.
• Perform extensive data validation and quality assurance on large datasets.
• Test and validate solutions related to data integration.
Data Integration and Database Growth
• Collaborate with data owners and role players to ensure seamless data integration.
• Drive the expansion of the primary database through API connections and historical data submissions (e.g., block census, yields, locations).
Stakeholder Engagement & Problem Solving
• Liaise between members, business users and technical teams to translate data into insights.
• Balance stakeholder requirements with available resources and data capacity.
Dashboard Development and Visualisation
• Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards showing key production, financial, and industry metrics.
• Develop working filters and user-friendly interfaces for stakeholders.
Reporting and Insight Generation
• Create and assist with reports and statistical analyses tailored to the SAMAC Board, members, and industry stakeholders.
• Present complex findings through accessible graphs and narratives.
Business Process Mapping & Improvement
• Document and analyse business and farming-related processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve data management, reporting flows, and decision-making frameworks.
Data Governance and Integrity
• Promote and uphold data management principles, ensuring secure, clean, and reliable data.
• Identify and resolve data gaps or inconsistencies.

This role is responsible for transforming raw data into actionable insights, developing interactive dashboards, and producing reports that inform strategic, operational, and industry-wide decision-making.
