Role description

We are expanding our senior data engineering capability at Games Global and seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Level 1) to lead the design, build, and operation of data pipelines and platform capabilities that power analytics, billing, experimentation, AI/ML workloads, and commercial reporting across our organisation. This is a hands-on, ownership-focused role where you'll take end-to-end responsibility for one or more domains, set technical direction, and raise the bar for engineering quality. You'll own the design and development of ELT pipelines, set modelling approaches across Snowflake, lead ingestion of new data sources, and define data quality and observability standards that the entire team follows. You'll work within a modern cloud-native data platform built on Snowflake, dbt, AWS, and Infrastructure as Code practices. Our team values collaboration across disciplines—you'll partner closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, Platform Engineers, and Software Engineers to deliver end-to-end data solutions. We champion automation and AI-assisted development techniques, and we're continuously evaluating modern approaches to stay at the cutting edge. You'll also play a key role in mentoring Level 1 and Level 2 engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance. We're looking for someone with 5+ years of data engineering experience who has owned production systems end-to-end. You should bring deep SQL skills, Python skills, substantial Snowflake or similar expertise (query profiling, cost management, performance tuning), dbt experience, and fluency with AWS and mature SDLC practices including Terraform and CI/CD. At this level, you'll demonstrate strong technical depth, set quality standards, mentor engineers, collaborate across teams, and exercise sound judgement on trade-offs between quality, speed, and cost.
