Role description

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic Technology team in Kuils River, Cape Town. You'll play a critical role in our software delivery function, designing, developing, and maintaining innovative software solutions that drive our business forward. You'll be at the forefront of solving complex challenges, optimising system performance, and implementing high-quality solutions that make a real impact. As part of our collaborative team, you'll work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and IT Operations to deliver exceptional results. You'll have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior developers, facilitate technical design sessions, and ensure best practices are followed across the organisation. We're big on knowledge sharing, so you'll actively participate in agile ceremonies, cross-functional discussions, and contribute as a subject matter expert in our technology forums. We're looking for someone with a 3-year tertiary IT qualification and 5+ years of software development experience. You'll bring strong skills in Oracle Forms, Oracle PL/SQL, RESTful APIs, Angular, JavaScript, and modern web technologies, along with solid RDBMS experience. Pepkor Payments and Lending forms part of the Pepkor Group, and operates as a division of Pepkor Trading (Pty) Ltd, serving as a central support structure for Capfin and Tenacity Financial Services.

We generally look for full-stack developers who are tech agnostic and would prefer to use the right tool for the job and honestly believe that there is more to development than just coding. As a result, we expect our developers to be collaborative and be involved in the entire development life cycle: they should know how to create a unit test, how to go about analysing code in order to reduce technical debt or how to schedule an automated build.

WHAT DOES OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS ENTAIL?

We strive to make the interview process as painless as possible for any prospective employee. We understand that your time is as important as ours. However, this does not mean that we are not thorough or that we will not stretch your thinking ability during the process. The typical interview process for a developer is as follows:

Interview with Head of Software Development and HR Manager (3o minutes, virtually)
Technical skills assessment - typically a whiteboard session with some of the developers.
Psychometric tests – This is done at our offices or online and will be scheduled once you have passed the second interview.
