Role Overview

We're seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer whose gravitational centre is frontend architecture, design systems, and visual output engines — but who builds the APIs and database layers behind them when the work demands it. You will architect the interfaces through which institutional clients interact with enterprise intelligence, build the rendering systems that transform data into branded documents and dashboards, and own the visual language of an entire product suite. You will work across our APEX Suite — a unified enterprise intelligence platform serving agriculture, mining, retail, banking, and international cooperatives.

And we are AI-native — Claude Code is embedded in our daily workflow, generating UI scaffolding, orchestrating visual regression testing, and accelerating what a small team can deliver.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build frontend applications that surface enterprise intelligence to end users — dashboards, client portals, configuration interfaces, and self-service tooling

• Design, build, and maintain a component library and design system that enforces brand consistency across the entire platform

• Own the rendering pipeline that transforms structured data into branded PDFs, DOCX documents, dynamic reports, and interactive web visualisations

• Build fullstack features end-to-end — database schema, API layer, and polished UI — when a feature needs a complete surface shipped by one person

• Implement responsive, accessible interfaces that work equally well for a minister reviewing a report on a tablet and a field worker on a budget Android phone

• Establish frontend performance baselines — Core Web Vitals, bundle analysis, lazy loading strategies — and defend them across releases

• Design data visualisation components that communicate complex analytical output without overwhelming the reader

• Leverage Claude Code to generate component scaffolding, refactor design system hierarchies, enforce style consistency, and automate visual testing

• Collaborate with the team on API contract design — you advocate for the frontend consumer's perspective in every API discussion

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years focused on frontend architecture and UI systems

• Deep React and Next.js proficiency — server-side rendering, static generation, app router, React Server Components, streaming

• Expert TypeScript skills — you write typed, maintainable frontend code and enforce it through tooling

• Experience designing and maintaining a design system or component library that other engineers actually use and trust

• Strong CSS architecture skills — you can build complex, responsive layouts without fighting the browser or reaching for hacks

• Backend proficiency — Node.js, REST API design, PostgreSQL — sufficient to build and own API layers independently

• Experience with document generation, PDF rendering, or programmatic report building (wkhtmltopdf, Puppeteer, ReportLab, or custom engines)

• Understanding of data visualisation principles and experience with charting libraries (D3.js, Recharts, Chart.js, or equivalent)

• Active daily use of AI-assisted development tools — prompt engineering, code generation, agent orchestration

• Strong opinions about information hierarchy, visual density, and cognitive load — backed by shipped products, not theory

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building multi-tenant frontend applications with per-tenant theming, branding, and entitlement-based feature visibility

• Knowledge of animation and motion design for data-driven interfaces — tasteful transitions that aid comprehension

• Experience with Storybook or equivalent for component documentation and visual regression testing

• Familiarity with headless CMS patterns or content-driven frontend architectures

• Experience with accessibility auditing (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices

• Understanding of frontend observability — error tracking (Sentry), real user monitoring, performance budgets

• Background in brand-driven product design — translating visual identity guidelines into living code

• Experience with Figma-to-code workflows or design token systems

• Contributions to open-source frontend libraries or design system projects
