Role description
We're seeking a skilled Cloud/Platform Engineer to join our insurance company team in Southern Pretoria, where you'll drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable cloud infrastructure within the Microsoft ecosystem. You'll focus on enabling development teams through robust, automated, and observable platform solutions while promoting best practices in cloud-native development and operations. Your work will span platform development and automation using Azure services, Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Azure Bicep, and building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. In this role, you'll deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters on AKS, implement container orchestration strategies, and design service mesh architectures for microservices. You'll build comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions using OpenTelemetry, create dashboards with Grafana, and work with observability tools like Elastic, Zabbix, and Prometheus. Your technical expertise in C# development, combined with your cloud platform engineering experience, will be essential as you work with Azure services, databases including SQL Server and CosmosDB, and implement networking solutions with load balancing and security policies. We have several delivery teams that look after a specific product and generally consist of a handful of developers, a tester or two, a business analyst, a product owner and a scrum master / iteration manager. We embrace Agile Methodologies, teams are self-organizing and deliver products that delight all stakeholders.
As much as possible we encourage our developers to be full-stack. We do have some amazing specialists that can help you with any problems you might encounter.
