Role description
We're seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our groundbreaking AFC/ABT project—a first-of-its-kind deployment in South Africa. Reporting to the Project Director, you'll serve as the central delivery integrator, translating strategic vision into executable plans while coordinating multiple workstreams including design, construction, external interfaces, system integration, testing, and O&M transition. This is a rare opportunity to manage a complex, high-profile infrastructure project with compressed timelines and multiple vendors, where your delivery discipline and coordination expertise will be mission-critical. You'll lead a dynamic team including a Project Coordinator and functionally coordinate with Integration Leads, AFC Technical Leads, Construction Project Managers, Field Services Engineers, and Quality Leads. Your responsibilities span programme control, integration coordination, design management, RFI oversight, testing and acceptance coordination, and contract administration support. We need someone who thrives under pressure, can proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks, and maintain impeccable documentation standards across all project phases. You'll be the escalation point for integration challenges and ensure seamless alignment between all project disciplines. We're looking for a seasoned professional with 10+ years of senior project management experience on complex infrastructure or technology-enabled projects, ideally with exposure to transport systems, AFC/ABT, or large-scale systems integration. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Project Management is required, with formal PM certification (PMP, PRINCE2) being advantageous. You'll bring strong FIDIC contract knowledge, exceptional coordination capabilities, and the ability to operate calmly under pressure.
