Role description

Join our team at Power Meter Technics (PMT) and help develop MeteringOnline (MOL), our large-scale utility metering and data management platform. As a Front End Developer, you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining data-driven user interfaces for metering data, dashboards, and operational tools. This role focuses on clarity, performance, and correctness in a production system. You'll develop and maintain front end components, create complex tables, trees, and data visualizations, and integrate UI components with REST APIs. Working closely with our back end developers and domain specialists, you'll also improve the usability of existing screens without disrupting workflows. We're looking for someone with strong JavaScript fundamentals, experience in building web application front ends, and solid HTML and CSS knowledge. We offer the opportunity to work on a real-world, production-critical platform with a small, experienced technical team. Power Meter Technics (Pty) Ltd (PMT) was established in 1994. We focus exclusively in the field of utility metering, and are a niche-market leader in the field. We are a privately owned company situated in Midrand South Africa with approximately 100 employees.

We offer our development staff flexible working conditions and a great deal of autonomy in creating innovative applications and solutions to enhance and maintain our world leading products. Our development team is very small and team members are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of the company from back-end software that provides the backbone of our data acquisition platform to high-end web development at the front end.

PMT is a small company that functions more like a close-knit family than a large corporation. Red-tape and the usual corporate administrative burdens for day to day operations are almost non-existent. If you need a bigger tool to do a job, you ask for it over a cup of coffee and it will be done. We are primarily a Linux house in that 90% of our systems are developed and run in a Linux environment using MySQL databases.
