Role description
We're seeking a Head of Technology to lead Flux Full Circle's next phase of technical maturity. You'll strengthen delivery reliability, evolve our platform and infrastructure, and build a high-performing technology team that scales with our business.
As a senior operator, you'll lead a multidisciplinary tech team, remain technically fluent, and take full ownership of delivery quality and infrastructure stability. You'll own end-to-end technology delivery across our client portfolio and internal platforms, set standards for code quality and architecture, and ensure robust security practices. You'll guide system architecture with a focus on reliability and scalability, balance short-term delivery needs with long-term maintainability, and partner with leadership on evolving our proprietary platforms.
We're looking for someone who can build a calm, accountable, and high-performing technology culture. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of web or platform development experience, prior leadership experience, and a strong understanding of modern front-end frameworks, CMS platforms, and cloud hosting environments. You're commercially aware, a clear communicator, and motivated by building reliable systems and capable teams.

Our Culture
Our culture is rooted using technology to empower luxury conservation based tourism. We are currently a team of 20, making for a tight-knit community where everyone's contributions are valued and recognised. We're located in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa, and have a hybrid working setup (3x days in office and 2x days remote).
Our Engineering Processes
Our team prioritises security, scalability, and performance. We use WordPress as a headless CMS, providing flexibility and ease of maintenance. On frontend we use a Gatsby framework, leveraging React for a modular, high-performance user experience and Netlify for efficient delivery. For infrastructure, we opt for Digital Ocean, selecting the appropriate server based on anticipated traffic and growth.
Our development process incorporates the Roots stack, with Trellis for replicating settings across environments (local, staging, and production) and Bedrock for enhanced WordPress security and update management. We also employ Cloudflare and QUIC.cloud services from the outset. These tools enable us to set up a robust Content Delivery Network (CDN), enhance DDoS protection, and secure DNS. Cloudflare and QUIC.cloud help us maintain optimal sit performance, enhanced security, and rapid content delivery to users across the globe.
