Role description
Join our SKA-Mid Site Reliability Engineering team as a Database & Platform Engineer with a DBA focus. You'll be responsible for designing, configuring, and operating a variety of databases.Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability in distributed, containerised, and cloud environments. In this role, you'll leverage your database administration skills alongside platform and operations knowledge to enable deployment, scalability, and automation. You'll work with distributed parallel file systems and object storage, optimizing database configurations and coordinating with platform teams. Your responsibilities will include developing SQL queries, implementing backup and disaster recovery workflows, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines. We're looking for a professional with 5+ years of experience managing production database systems at scale. You should have strong SQL proficiency, experience with Python or PHP for database APIs, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization.
