you own arrived here in a container on a container ship. The global shipping

industry is massive, complex, and has largely been done the same way for decades

without much change or innovation. The lack of digital innovation and infrastructure

in the global shipping space results in poor visibility, missed deadlines, and lost

revenue for all parties involved.

NYSHEX is building the digital infrastructure for global shipping. Our technology

platform unites the entire ocean freight supply chain into a reliable, efficient, and

trusted system for global commerce. Our solution helps Shippers, Carriers, and

NVOCCs improve performance, strengthen relationships and reduce manual

workload.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Product Designer at NYSHEX, you will create, execute and own product design

solutions for a portfolio of NYSHEX’s products. You will ensure that our users have a

seamless and efficient experience using NYSHEX’s platform. You’ll collaborate with

our Product Design and Engineering teams, as well as gathering user feedback, to

ensure we have the right designs to drive successful user experiences on our

platform. You will develop a deep knowledge of our industry, business, customers

and users and will translate that knowledge into insights that drive strategic design

decision-making.

This is a full-time role reporting directly to our VP of Product. NYSHEX currently

operates remotely in South Africa with plans to move to a hybrid model over the

next 6 months, in which our team will work from a Cape Town office 3 days a week,

Monday through Wednesday, and flexibly on Thursdays and Fridays.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

• Own and drive the creation of design solutions the excite NYSHEX’s

• customers and users

• Lead design sessions and build prototypes to test new concepts

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design solutions that

• excite both NYSHEX’s internal users and customers

• Build high fidelity designs and work with Product and Engineering to translate

• initial designs into pixel-perfect user experiences

• Host design review sessions to solicit feedback and continuously improve the

• quality of the Product Design function at NYSHEX

QUALIFICATIONS:

You are a great candidate for this role if you have:

• 4+ years experience working on technology-powered products

• High proficiency with digital design and software prototyping tools, ideally

• Figma

• A demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern

• product discovery and product delivery

• Experience designing for responsive web apps

• Knowledge of typography, iconography, color theory, accessibility standards

• and guidelines

• A genuine interest in learning the different areas of our platform and its users

• – both internal and external

• A desire to work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and other

• key stakeholders to deliver high quality design content

• Excellent presentation and documentation skills; ability to articulate design

• rationale and goals

You are an exceptional candidate for this role if you also have

• Formal education (BA, MA, etc.) in Human–Computer Interaction, Cognitive

• Science, Design Engineering, Industrial or Graphic Design, Computer Science,

• or related STEM discipline

• Experience working in and/or owning a Design System for Product Design
