Role description

Join Hepstar, a leading TravelTech company in Cape Town, as our BI Data Engineer. You'll play a crucial role in optimizing our data infrastructure and transforming raw data into actionable insights. Working closely with our Product squad and Account managers, you'll manage the entire data pipeline, introduce AI tools, and create impactful visualizations using PowerBI.

As part of our dynamic Product & Engineering Team, you'll have the opportunity to shape our data strategy and influence future data-related hires. We're looking for someone with 5+ years of experience, proficiency in cloud platforms like GCP, and strong coding skills in Python and Java. Your analytical mindset and excellent communication skills will be key in translating complex concepts into simple business language.

Our Engineering Processes

Our technology is primarily written in Java. Our tech stack consist of API endpoints that our clients integrate with, administrative & reporting portals, an e-commerce website and data engineering infrastructure that forms the basis for our product recommendation engine. We’re a fast-paced agile development environment where we’re continuously building new features to stay ahead of the curve and solve for the most pressing problems our customers are facing. Being in a fast paced environment, we run our sprints in 2-week cycles with deployments happening at the end of each sprint.
