Role description

Role: Cybersecurity Specialist

Main Purpose Statement:

The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for specifying, engineering, operating, and supporting security solutions. This includes helping users, ensuring proper technical functionality, and enhancing security infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement secure practices for IoT, 5G, and Edge Computing.

Develop and implement comprehensive security architecture strategies (e.g., zero trust, SDN, SASE/SSE).

Conduct risk assessments and penetration testing.

Ensure operational resilience through threat prevention and detection (e.g., firewalls, log analysis, TIPs).

Manage identity and access (IAM, SSO, PAM).

Rapidly respond to and remediate security breaches.

Test and assess security products.

Document incidents and reports.

Research emerging technologies and trends in cybersecurity.

Key Competencies:

Creating specifications and performing reviews.

Deploying and engineering security solutions (IAM, DLP, DSPM, PAM, TPRM).

Managing operations, change, and incidents.

Supporting users in implementation and operation of security tools.

Reporting on solution performance and designing indicators.

Leading teams and creating documentation.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Grade 12; relevant degree/diploma desirable.

Industry certifications (CompTIA, ISC2) and vendor certs (Fortinet, Cisco, Microsoft) advantageous.

10+ years of hands-on experience with:

IAM, PAM, firewalls, NAC, WAF, DDoS, MFA, MDM, DLP

Endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning

AD, Windows OS, Linux OS, network/Wi-Fi admin

Business Skills:

Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, development, cybersecurity, and operations.

Behavioural Skills:

Problem-solving, collaboration, adaptability, and knowledge sharing.

Transversal Skills:

Analytical thinking, performance tracking, facilitation, and communication.

Top 3 Must-Have Technical Skills/Tools:

Identity and Access Management (IAM) & Privileged Access Management (PAM)

Network & Endpoint Security (e.g., Firewalls, DLP, Endpoint Protection, NAC)

Threat Detection & Response Tools (e.g., SIEM, TIPs, Log Analysis, Deception Tech)
