Role description
Position: Junior Developer
Company: TIH – A holding company for leading South African financial service providers. We specialize in short-term insurance, long-term insurance, health insurance, and a comparison platform for insurance and personal finance.
Job Purpose:
Develop, create, and modify applications with supervision, helping to optimize operational efficiency and ensure the software meets customer needs. Support software maintenance, testing, security measures, and personal development to stay current with technological advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development:
Assist in developing and enhancing applications.
Identify areas for improvement and develop new software solutions.
Software Maintenance:
Monitor and identify software defects and suggest improvements.
Testing & Performance Monitoring:
Conduct routine software tests and handle user issues to maintain application performance.
Security:
Support security measures like firewalls and encryption.
Personal Growth:
Participate in training and development activities to keep up with industry standards.
Customer Support:
Address customer inquiries and technical issues as needed.
Compliance:
Follow company policies and regulatory standards.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of software development and testing.
Ability to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
Ability to work independently with supervision.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of programming languages and IT support.
Qualifications & Experience:
Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
A software development qualification (degree/diploma) (Essential).
1+ year of experience with relevant programming languages (Advantageous).
Additional Information:
Certification for qualifications may be required.
