At Quicklysign, we’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help us scale and innovate our e-signature platform. This role offers the opportunity to architect robust, scalable, and secure systems while coding and mentoring a small but dedicated team of developers and testers. You’ll collaborate closely with the Product Manager, CEO, and other key stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals and customer needs.

Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on leadership to the engineering team, ensuring pragmatic decision-making and a focus on delivering high-impact features efficiently.
System Design: Architect and design robust, scalable, and secure web applications that support the business’s growth and customer needs.
Code & Architecture Quality: Own the overall technical health of the codebase and architecture. Establish and enforce best practices for code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure long-term maintainability.
Feature Development: Actively participate in coding and implementation of key features, setting the standard for code quality and delivery.
Operational Excellence: Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of production systems through effective monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine and improve development workflows, tools and practices to ensure the team operates efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Team Development: Mentor and guide developers and testers, fostering a results-oriented approach with a focus on lean processes and adaptability.
Engineering Culture: Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture that emphasises continuous learning, shared ownership, and accountability.
Collaboration: Partner with the CEO, Product Owner, and other stakeholders to align technical efforts with business objectives.
Technology Strategy: Contribute to the technology roadmap, recommending tools, frameworks, and platforms to stay ahead
Security and Compliance: Ensure the platform adheres to industry security standards and compliance requirements for data protection.
Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on full-stack development.
- 2+ years of experience leading and mentoring other engineers.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or similar, and experience with frameworks like Svelte (React, Vue, etc) and Flask (Django, etc).
- Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, RESTful APIs, etc.).
- Solid knowledge of source control systems (e.g., git), including branching strategies, code reviews, and best practices for collaborative development.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working within iterative - development environments.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable and secure web applications.
- Experience mentoring and leading a team of developers.
Recommended Skills
- 8+ years of experience in software development, including leadership or mentorship roles.
- 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring other engineers.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud (or AWS, Azure, etc).
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience monitoring and optimising production systems for performance, availability, and scalability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience working in startups or small teams where multitasking and adaptability are key.
