What we do
Sportable is a technology company founded in 2016 focusing initially on Rugby. We make state of the art tracking hardware that tracks the players, the ball in 3D and in real-time. Our hardware also monitors impacts, tackles and heart-rate in real-time. The essence of our business model is this: we make hardware, we sell data.
Our products allow teams to monitor, measure and improve skill. We make players better at passing, kicking, moving into space, and executing strategy. This is a market segment that we own. Why? Because to do this effectively you must track the ball in 3D in real-time, and as the exclusive technology partner of Gilbert we have a lockout on 95% of the world's rugby ball market.
Our data is also used by Leagues to make more engaging content for fans, through second screen devices or better graphics during the game. Our Smart Rugby ball will be part of every rugby broadcast worldwide by 2023.
Why Work For Us
Rugby is a growth market. The Rugby World Cup is the third most watched event in the world after the Fifa World Cup and the Olympics, but its value as a product lags far behind. Private Equity has noticed this, and in 2020 more than £1billion was invested into the Premiership, Six Nations and Pro14. There is a tidal wave of investment and growth coming to Rugby and this is your chance to be part of the action.
Because we make the hardware, we have access to real-time data streams that no one else does. This is essentially a blank canvas for creative Data Scientists and there's lots of data-gold in those hills! Using player tracking and ball tracking we're able to categorise events on the field in real-time at a fraction of the speed of computer vision (it takes us milliseconds) and that's just the beginning.
But we're not just focused on Rugby. We have other exciting projects in the pipeline that give us similar exclusive lockouts in other sports.
We're a full stack tech company. We're hard working, fun-loving, ambitious, technology-and-sport loving inventors looking to make a huge impact on the world of sports.
If you want a desk job, this isn't for you. We spend a lot of time out in the field, playing rugby, kicking balls around testing our hardware, software and algorithms.
