Role description
We're two businesses, one team, and one big opportunity for the right person.
Peak Timing is South Africa's leading race and event timing company. We deliver real-time results for thousands of athletes across running, cycling, trail, and multisport events. It's a high-stakes, high-energy environment — when a race starts, everything has to work. We're now building out new ecommerce capabilities to serve both event organisers and athletes directly.
The Carwash Club is where we're building something from the ground up. It's a platform business — think subscription carwash meets digital-first customer experience. We're early, we're moving fast, and we're building the ecommerce and digital infrastructure that will define how the business scales.
This role sits across both. You'll be the person who connects the dots between two very different business models and figures out how AI can make each of them sharper, faster, and smarter. That might mean building AI-assisted workflows for event operations at Peak Timing, or designing the ecommerce and customer experience at The Carwash Club. Both. Simultaneously.
If you've been looking for a role where you can actually do things — not just advise, not just manage a roadmap — this is it. You'll have direct access to the Founder, real authority over the technology stack, and the kind of scope that doesn't come up often.

About Peak Timing | Car Wash Club
What we do
We run two businesses at the intersection of technology and real-world operations. Peak Timing, founded in 2009, is South Africa's leading race and event timing company — delivering precise, real-time results for thousands of athletes across running, cycling, trail, and multisport events. The Carwash Club is our platform-driven vehicle care business, built from the ground up on digital infrastructure, subscription models, and data. Both businesses are actively investing in AI and ecommerce to scale smarter and faster.
Why work for us
You'll have genuine ownership across two very different businesses — an established events operation and an early-stage platform startup — which means no two days look the same. You'll work directly with the Founder, have real authority over the technology stack, and see the impact of your work immediately. If you want a role where your decisions actually matter and your career grows as the businesses grow, this is it.
Our culture
We're a small, high-trust team that moves fast and takes ownership seriously. Peak Timing's motto — "Start to Finish" — captures how we operate across both businesses: we see things through. We value people who are curious, self-directed, and comfortable wearing multiple hats. AI is not a buzzword here — it's embedded in how we work, and we expect everyone to engage with it seriously
Our engineering process
We work lean and iteratively, prioritising tools and solutions that deliver real business impact over complexity for its own sake. Our stack spans cloud-based timing infrastructure, SQL Server, Python, AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT), and automation tools like Make. We're building out new ecommerce solutions across both businesses and are deliberate about technical decisions — documenting systems, evaluating new tools critically, and keeping things maintainable for a small team.
Our hiring process
We keep it straightforward. After reviewing applications, shortlisted candidates have an initial conversation with the Founder to understand the role and the businesses. From there, we assess both technical capability and how you think — we're less interested in credentials than in evidence that you've built things, solved real problems, and can operate independently. We aim to move quickly and give clear, honest feedback at every stage.
