Role description

We're seeking a skilled Data Scientist for a six-month contract to drive automation and process improvement across our business. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you'll identify opportunities, build practical solutions, and help us leverage AI and automation to save time and reduce errors. You won't just respond to briefs—we want you to bring your perspective on where the biggest gains are and help us prioritise what to tackle. If you're excited by the intersection of AI, practical automation, and real-world financial workflows in an emerging markets context, this role is for you. You'll work on impactful projects including AI-assisted document generation for investment papers and due diligence reports, financial data standardisation pipelines that transform varied Excel formats into standardised templates integrated with Salesforce, and automated Excel financial model building. We're also open to you identifying additional high-value automation opportunities as you get under the bonnet. You'll collaborate with our investment team, gather requirements from non-technical colleagues, and build solutions that people use every day. We'll also value your support with ad hoc AI/automation queries and informal training for staff. We're looking for someone with 3+ years in data science or machine learning engineering, comfortable with LLMs and prompt engineering (OpenAI, Claude, etc.), solid Python skills, and experience working with Excel programmatically. Familiarity with Salesforce APIs is important, and you should be able to work both independently and collaboratively in an iterative environment. Experience with RAG pipelines, workflow automation tools, financial services contexts, or document templating libraries would be advantageous. An interest in agricultural development, impact investing, or emerging markets is a genuine plus. Join us to shape how we work with data and make our business more efficient.
