Carebit is a design-led, remote-first healthtech company supporting over 2,000 consultants across the UK private healthcare market. We're profitable, bootstrapped, and growing quickly. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role where you'll own our data migration and data engineering function end to end. You'll rebuild and maintain the tooling that allows us to run hundreds of accurate migrations each year, directly impacting how new practices onboard to our platform. You'll take full ownership of our Ruby-based migrator and validator codebases, working with real-world data from various practice management systems. Your work includes designing robust validation rules, building automation for safe migration tracking, creating clear error reporting, and establishing standards that scale. You'll collaborate closely with Senior Product Engineers, Data Migration Engineers, and Customer Support Specialists, acting as the technical authority who raises the bar for this critical function. In 2026, we're targeting approximately 555 migrations with strict accuracy KPIs. We offer a competitive salary of £55,000–£65,000, 25 days holiday, and a remote-first culture with minimal meetings. You'll receive a laptop, chair, and home setup budget. While you must be based in Cape Town for occasional in-person sessions with our Cape Town team, you'll work comfortably within UK time zones. We're looking for a strong backend engineer with experience in data transformation, preferably with Ruby on Rails expertise, who values correctness, safety, and repeatability.
