Role description
Information (Power BI) Support Analyst
Location: Hybrid in Fourways
(12-month renewable contract to go permanent)

This role is part of a transformation initiative to upgrade and consolidate BI and reporting platforms, ensuring stable, high-quality data delivery across business units. You’ll play a key role in both support and build functions, investigating issues, optimising existing BI processes, and helping to modernise legacy data environments into a more scalable, governed Microsoft BI ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and enhance BI reporting solutions and data pipelines across the organisation.
- Work closely with Agile development teams, business stakeholders, and data engineers to deliver reliable, accurate insights.
- Manage and resolve BI support incidents and small change requests through a structured ticketing system.
- Conduct analysis before escalation or reassignment of tickets, ensuring issues are triaged and resolved within SLA.
- Build, test, and maintain ETL processes, data models, and Power BI reports that meet business and technical standards.
- Document RCA (root cause analysis), fixes, and preventive measures to improve system stability and reduce rework.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience designing and building BI and analytics solutions.
- At least 6 years’ experience developing BI solutions using SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.
- Strong SQL and T-SQL experience (8+ years).
- Proficiency in DAX (minimum 3 years) comfortable writing measures, optimising models, and managing RLS.
- Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts (Kimball methodology, facts/dimensions, SCDs).
- Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and ADLS is advantageous.
- Previous experience in support-heavy or SLA-driven environments preferred.

About the Project:
This position supports a live data migration and BI modernisation programme, aimed at improving data quality, consolidating reporting platforms, and transitioning critical BI services to a more robust, cloud-ready Microsoft environment. The successful candidate will help stabilise current processes, drive platform improvements, and enhance end-to-end BI delivery for a large-scale enterprise.
