Role description
Join our innovative team as an Embedded Software Engineer, where you'll design and develop cutting-edge Linux-based applications for edge devices like Orange Pi and Raspberry Pi. You'll be at the forefront of creating seamless user interfaces and efficient device-to-hardware communication systems for spatial data capture and visualization.
In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our hardware, design, and backend teams to bring spatial data visualizations to life on-device. You'll leverage your expertise in Python to develop custom scripts, automation tools, and communication drivers, while optimizing software for efficient performance on Raspberry Pi and Orange Pi platforms. Your strong problem-solving skills will be crucial as you debug and refine software under real-world conditions.
We're looking for a talented individual with 3+ years of experience in embedded systems development, strong proficiency in Python, and a solid understanding of Linux environments. Your experience with UI/UX design for embedded devices and familiarity with hardware communication protocols will be invaluable. What we do
At Stratafy, we are redefining how the Mining industries engage with and act upon geospatial and environmental data. We are building a specialized hardware-enabled safety platform that delivers real-time, photogrammetry-based visualizations and environmental feedback β directly from the most dangerous, hard-to-reach areas of underground sites. Our core innovation lies in a proprietary edge-compute imaging device designed specifically for narrow reef and confined space mining. This ruggedized hardware captures high-resolution spatial data, integrates seamlessly with cloud-based infrastructure, and supports real-time previews, even in environments where conventional data collection is impractical or unsafe. By combining AI, embedded edge computing, and IoT sensors, Stratafy enables live hazard detection, safety assessments, and streamlined reporting β with minimal interruption to operational workflows.
What Weβre Building Stratafy is currently developing a next-generation photogrammetry device, known internally as the Stratafy Seeker, tailored for underground risk assessment. This safety-first device includes: π· Real-Time Visual Feedback Our hardware enables live video previews and interactive image capture from high-risk underground zones. This includes: Real-time image buffering, decoding, and rendering. Low-latency streaming using optimized data pipelines. Seamless user control through handheld smart interfaces. π¦ Integrated Data Management Capture of high-resolution images and metadata on a session-based model. Secure storage with automated local and cloud-based transfer protocols. Backend support for logging, updates, and data synchronization across teams and devices. π Robust Embedded Software Embedded systems engineered for harsh industrial environments. Implementation of communication protocols for external instrumentation. Compatibility with existing mining infrastructure and safety systems. This platform feeds into our Real-Time Integrated Monitoring System (RTIMS) β an intuitive, multi-user web dashboard that supports live collaboration, safety alerts, compliance tracking, and historical mapping.
