Brundtland Consulting is a South African management consulting firm specialized in climate change, green economy and renewable energy. We assist in sustainability strategies, green and carbon financing and ESG disclosure. Moreover, we advise business in determining their response to the changing regulatory landscape and government in developing policies promoting a transition to a low carbon and sustainable economy.

Working from our base in Johannesburg, South Africa, our team has gained multiple years of experience in assisting business and government in the aforementioned areas. As such, an in-depth understanding of the global and regional energy markets and climate change policies has been acquired. Our team consists of climate change and sustainability experts with academic backgrounds in finance, economics, policy and engineering.

Our Culture

The modern concept of sustainable development was first introduced in the 1987 ‘Brundtland Report’, published by the ‘Brundtland Commission’, a sub organisation of the United Nations, which was established to help direct the nations of the world towards the goal of sustainable development.

Brundtland reminds us not only of our vision and mission aligned to that in the ‘Brundtland Report’, but also refers to Gro Harlem Brundtland, as one of The Elders. This group of independent global leaders was founded by former president Nelson Mandela in 2007 to solve the worlds most insurmountable issues, including climate change. The Elders include Gro Harlem Brundtland among other key global thought leaders such as Ban Ki-moon, Mary Robinson and the late Kofi Annan.

At Brundtland we embrace the collective wisdom of The Elders, who all worked together for peace, justice and human rights, with a focus on a sustainable development pathway for South Africa, climate justice and urgent action on the climate crisis to ensure a just transition to a low carbon economy. Our Hiring Process

We are looking for analytically strong candidates with a proficient programming background to join our team. The candidate will assist in the design of new and updated features of our EPCAM Cloud Solution. Our vision is to assist clients in automating climate and sustainability related disclosure and simplifying greenhouse gas and carbon tax reporting, which not only provides convenience but also incentivises greener and more sustainable methods of production. By joining us in this role, the candidate would gain experience in full-stack development of our cloud solution and at the same time learn about environmental sustainability best practices assisting the world in the fight against climate change.

Candidates

You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. You have an understanding of HTML, PHP and SQL, or are willing to learn. You have a passion for coding and knowledge of good coding practices (indentation, naming conventions, commenting, etc). You are keen to learn about climate change and sustainability and how business discloses on their performance in these areas.

You are proactive, enjoy working in teams, have a good grip on numbers and data handling. You are happy to commute to our offices in Rosebank while partially working from home.

Your responsibilities

You will be assisting with HTML, PHP, and SQL coding and learn on the job with the opportunity to quickly progress to a level at which you start to lead and plan the further upgrades of our cloud solution.

How long does our interview process usually take, from first call to offer stage?

Between 2-3 weeks. This will be split across 2-3 interviews and an assessment.
