The Role:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This is a hands-on role requiring expertise in database administration and development, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of our database systems. Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance.

Perform core DBA tasks, including compression, partitioning, fault finding, and optimizations.

Develop, optimise, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions as needed.

Conduct regular database monitoring and troubleshooting to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.

Collaborate with team members to define and document database requirements and solutions.

Implement and uphold database security measures to protect sensitive information.

Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.

Stay informed of industry best practices and advancements in SQL Server technologies.

Requirements:

At least 5 years of hands-on database administration experience with MS SQL Server. Do not apply if this requirement is not met.

Strong expertise in database compression, partitioning, fault finding, and performance optimization.

Proven ability to write efficient and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.

Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Effective communication and collaboration skills, thriving in a team-oriented environment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results.

Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

This is an office-based role in Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa. Candidates must reside within commuting distance. Remote applications will not be considered.
