Who are we
Black Beard is not an agency nor a dev house. It’s a deeply personal philosophy. A state of mind. A belief system and a vision. It’s a question and a challenge. The question is “why?” The challenge is “why not?”
We believe in what ifs, gut feelings, the power of knowledge and innovation. Inherently, we have the power of experience. The sum of parts that is destined for greatness. It is in our nature to question and to challenge. We do things differently.
What we do
We solve business problems through leading technology and productive delivery.
We know that problems require smart solutions, which is why we focus our energies on leading technology. We push boundaries in AI, AR, machine learning, robotics & game development (phaser.io) by taking standard development formats like .net, PHP, and JAVA.
And that’s how we will become the global leader in technology operating out of South Africa.
It’s all about the people.
No egos, No nonsense, No bullshit, No offices, we all work together to deliver exceptional projects.
We don’t believe in reporting lines or bosses; we work as teams to deliver excellent work for our partners. No timekeepers or clock watches.
We believe everyone has their way and rhythm of working on when and how they work best, and we respect this. Our culture all built on trust.
We understand our technologists’ personalities and believe one needs freedom in how you work.
Our Hiring Process
We don't believe in long complicated processes and tests. We look for fit and compatibility on both sides. Skills are important but passion more so and that can't always be tested which is why we follow a more informal hiring process. But to get an idea, we would like to meet face to face first to get an idea if we like each other and get a better understanding of what you are looking for and for you to ask questions and learn more about us.
Next, we would like you to meet the team and see if you feel comfortable in the environment, this could mean inviting you to spend the day (if you can) and we could also use the opportunity to talk more about your projects and the work you would like to do.
And then if it all went well we would make you an offer.
