Germany is home to Europe’s third and fourth largest tech hubs, Berlin and Munich. This makes it one of the best countries for software developers, including Vue.js developers. Here, we’ll take a look at average salaries for Vue.js developers at each stage of their careers and how they compare to React and JavaScript developer salaries.

Average junior Vue.js developer salary

Vue.js developers in Germany with two-to-four years of experience earn an average annual salary of €42 369. That puts them 4.6% (€2 040) behind their JavaScript counterparts and 7.5% (€3 453) behind those working in React.

With four years on the job, Vue.js developers can look forward to a 21.5% (€9 110) increase to a salary of €51 479. At this level, they actually earn 2.4% (€1 210) more than JavaScript developers, but 6.2% (€3 425) less than React.

This hefty salary rise can likely be explained by the fact that junior developers tend to switch jobs more often, giving them opportunities for fresh salary negotiations that yield greater income than they would otherwise earn through annual inflationary salary increases working at the same company.

Average Vue.js Developer Salaries by Experience

Average Salary by Years Experience, showing 25th and 75th percentiles
Years of Experience 25th Percentile Average 75th Percentile
2-4 €24,300 €42,369 €55,750
4-6 €41,520 €51,479 €61,600
6-10 €43,800 €60,551 €78,500
10-15 €46,000 €62,751 €80,000

Average senior Vue.js developer salary

Past the six-year mark, Vue.js developers should get a 17.6% (€9 072) raise to an average salary of €60 551. That’s a marginal 1.8% (€1 117) less than similarly experienced JavaScript developers, and 3.9% (€2 430) less than React.

Highly experienced Vue.js developers with at least a decade in the industry get a small increase of 3.6% (€2 200) to a €62 751 salary package. At this level, other developers see much larger increases; JavaScript devs earn 16.8% (€12 683) more and those working in React 18.7% (€14 388) more.

Senior Vue.js developers take on a growing range of responsibilities, including handling tasks across the software development life cycle and managing teams of more junior developers. However, they also tend to be more stable, working at one company for longer periods, which typically means fewer large salary increases. This also reflects companies’ reluctance to grant large raises on already lucrative packages.

Keep in mind

The data in this article is taken from StackOverflow’s 2022 Developer Survey’s open data. In this article, ‘salary’ refers to the gross annual salary (before tax) provided by 600 survey respondents from Germany who identified as Vue.js developers.

We only included salary insights for experience levels with enough data points to ensure that the amounts represent Vue.js developers in the country. That’s why we’ve omitted developers with more than fifteen years of experience from the article.

We also ran an outlier analysis to identify data points skewing the distribution of salaries. These points were removed from the final dataset to ensure that the amounts are representative of Vue.js developers in Germany. We’ve also included the 25th and 75th percentiles to give you further information about the distribution of salary data.

Average salaries are single data points and only one part of a bigger story. Many respondents may earn significantly more or significantly less than these averages. However, we hope to show underlying trends by mapping the average salaries for different experience levels.

These averages should not be used to estimate what your actual salary will or should be. Salaries depend on the company size, industry, individual, perks and nature of the work. These factors all influence the salary a company will offer to a prospective hire. In addition, most developers are “fluent” in several languages and work across multiple roles, which will also affect the final figures.

It’s also important to remember that every individual’s context is different. Salary is a personal conversation that should take place between employee and employer.
