Everything you need to know about Project Thrive
Project Thrive is a structured 1:1 virtual mentoring programme run by OfferZen. We connect experienced senior developers with junior developers who want to level up their tech careers for a 12-week mentoring relationship.
During the programme, mentoring pairs work together on development areas or goals as set by the Mentee. These development areas or goals can change over time. π―
At the beginning of the programme, mentors and mentees are required to attend a short training workshop to prepare them for the mentoring relationship and to introduce them to the frameworks we use in the programme. During the programme, mentoring pairs are sent weekly emails with resources that they may find helpful as they proceed through their mentoring journey. The Project Thrive mentoring coach will also be checking in with mentoring pairs periodically throughout the programme, getting feedback on how things are progressing, and helping them tackle any issues that arise.
At Project Thrive, mentors and mentees are required to fill out an application form. This form asks questions about your tech stack and your preferred area of focus for the mentoring programme. Mentors and mentees are then matched based on shared areas of focus and tech stack.
Mentoring pairs are expected to meet once per week for each of the 12 weeks of the programme. Practically, this works out to 1-2 hours per week time commitment, dependent on the amount of preparation needed for each meeting. β±οΈ
Project Thrive mentoring is a virtual programme, with all our meetings happening online. We also connect with all our members on Slack. This community Slack is a space where people can ask questions, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. We also host various mentor- and mentee-centred events. π»
Thatβs up to you! π If you and your mentoring partner wish to continue your mentoring relationship, we encourage you to do so. Many of our mentoring pairs continue checking in with one another on a more informal basis once the programme ends. Once you have completed the 12-week programme, you can also continue engaging with the community and attend events that are hosted by Project Thrive. Mentors are also welcome to sign up to mentor future cohorts.
We collect structured feedback from mentoring pairs at week 4, 8, and 12 of the programme.
